According to the ADA News, a publication of the American Dental Association, the number of women in dentistry has risen dramatically. In 1978, just four years before I entered Georgetown University School of Dentistry, 15.9% of all first year dental students were women. By 2016, it had risen to about 50%. During that same time, women practicing dentistry rose from 5% to about 25%. Those are some amazing numbers! [Read more…] about Women in Dentistry
Here at Dr. Remington’s orthodontic practice, we love seeing smiling faces, and we’re lucky enough to see them every day! Here are a few we’d like to share with you this week.
What is Emily T. smiling about, you may ask yourself? Is it because she’s enjoying her summer vacation? Possibly. Is it because she is taking home a giant cupcake after today’s visit? Probably. Is it because she just got her braces off? Most definitely!!! Keep smiling Emily!!! [Read more…] about Smiling Faces!
You may be asking yourself, what is a digital scanner, and why is that exciting news? Our new state-of-the-art scanner takes digital pictures of the teeth and the bite, which eliminates the need for… you guessed it… impressions! Without a doubt, impressions are the one thing that all patients really dread. Well, dread no more, we have the solution!
Without getting too technical, our scanner is integrated with all of our other digital equipment, which means that the digital x-rays, digital photos, and now, digital models all synch with one other to create a unified patient profile. That of course, is the exciting thing for us, but the exciting thing for you is NO MORE IMPRESSIONS! [Read more…] about Exciting News! The Digital Scanner is Here!
As I write this, the Falcons are going to the Super Bowl and the second playoff game is being decided as we speak. Who will win that game? And who will win the BIG game??? Don’t forget to vote when you come in for your appointment!
We consider ourselves lucky when we are asked to treat more than one member of the same family. Sometimes it’s mom or dad and the kids, sometimes we treat the siblings in turn from oldest to youngest, and sometimes we are lucky enough to treat two siblings at the same time. It’s great fun when we see them come in together! The majority of them do have a good time coming in together, although they may not enjoy being photographed together. The only time I see that sibling rivalry arise is when both of them are getting close to completion of their treatment and then the race is on… who will finish first??? Everyone is sooooo busy these days between office work, home work, school work, sports, and other activities, that I think a day to relax and take a deep breath from time to time is just what the doctor ordered! This week we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. He was a leader in the Civil Rights Movement who is best known for fighting for civil rights using nonviolent methods. Let’s remember his words today, “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.'” [Read more…] about I Have A Dream
Hello one and all… don’t forget to stop at the front desk when you come for your next appointment (or just drop in to say hello) to enter our new contest. Patty has chosen an especially tricky one this time… how many coffee stirring sticks are in the jar?
I hope everyone’s holidays were spent celebrating with friends and family! Everyone we saw today seemed to have enjoyed their time off, but was pretty tired after a full day back to school, work, etc.
Bella B. celebrated today by getting her braces on! Is there any better way??? [Read more…] about Happy New Year!
