Let’s face it, motivating adolescents to do something they don’t want to do is an uphill battle in the best of circumstances, but when we’re talking about orthodontic treatment, the stakes are higher.
In a study published in the April issue of American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, the authors concluded that “adolescents’ use of wireless mobile technology can be harnessed to improve toothbrushing efficacy and motivation.” They also noted previous reports of “increasing integration of digital technologies into personalized health care, as well as the use of mobile phone applications, especially in adolescents.”
