You may be asking yourself, what is a digital scanner, and why is that exciting news? Our new state-of-the-art scanner takes digital pictures of the teeth and the bite, which eliminates the need for… you guessed it… impressions! Without a doubt, impressions are the one thing that all patients really dread. Well, dread no more, we have the solution!
Without getting too technical, our scanner is integrated with all of our other digital equipment, which means that the digital x-rays, digital photos, and now, digital models all synch with one other to create a unified patient profile. That of course, is the exciting thing for us, but the exciting thing for you is NO MORE IMPRESSIONS!
How does the scanner work? The scanner has a small wand, similar in size to an electric toothbrush, that is scanned over the surfaces of the teeth. The wand contains a small camera that captures the images of the teeth in three dimensions. These images create digital models that can then be used to analyze a patient’s bite digitally, or, if needed, create a 3D model of the teeth as well.
