Today’s appointment could be titled: Adventures in reproximation… That sounds exciting, right??? The short explanation is that when teeth overlap one another, we sometimes need to eliminate the overlap in order to allow the teeth to move and straighten. The way we eliminate the overlap is called reproximation. It can be accomplished in many ways, but for Melissa S. I used fine diamond files to eliminate that overlap and create the space needed to allow tooth movement.
Q and A With Melissa S.
Q: What was your experience during the reproximation (filing)?
A: The sound (grating) and the sensation (pressure) of the filing are not exactly something I would call pleasant, but I understand that it is a necessary step to allow tooth movement. And similar to our last visit, I am beginning to see the signs of that movement happening.
Thank you, Melissa. We’ll check in with you next month.
