This is an exciting time to be an orthodontist. It’s an even more exciting time to be a woman in dentistry. I attended a conference in Park City, Utah this weekend titled, Women In Dentistry. It was a gathering of women dentists from all over the country. As we stood to introduce ourselves during one of the sessions, we shared some personal and professional goals, including, taking on more leadership roles, providing greater access to dental care, and seeking to both gain, and provide for others, a sense of empowerment. Bite blocks are small clear acrylic (plastic) blocks that are typically placed on the back of two of your upper front teeth. They aid in the correction of a deep bite in cases when the top and bottom front teeth overlap each other by too much, often nearly completely. Left untreated, deep bite can lead to significant tooth damage over time.
